ACT3 v1 is out, read this to get info on how to skip ahead.
This is an early build of ACT3 meaning that while it is possible to complete it there may be unfinished content or game breaking bugs I have not noticed. I would really appreciate it if you commented with information about such bugs, thoughts and opinions or any other requests. Runtime of act3 is approximately something in between 2 hours and 30 minutes and 3 hours.
Info on how to skip ahead is under the CHEATING ROOM category.
Note: Combat animations, and combat in general, can be sped up by holding down the spacebar.
These are some things I would like feedback on:
- Level of difficulty.
- The story overall.
- I almost always play keyboard only, if you are a mouse guy tell me if something is hard to click on.
- Spell checking, if you want to be nice, take a screenshot.
If you leave feedback I would love to know what activities you choose for Sarah to do, even more so if it broke something.
Known bugs:
- Text blur bug, I have not managed to figure out what makes this happen, my previous theory turned out to be wrong.
- Boarboyz fight breaks sometimes, not sure why, I can't consistently repeat it yet.
Even though the autosave mostly works fine it is good to make many and separate saves. This is a work in progress and is bound to have fuckups in it. Different saves can save you the hassle of repeating stuff if for instance a dialog box refuses to disappear…
These are things which have not been finished yet but will be soon:
- Some Shiny Big Coin lockboxes are unusable at the moment. The one next to Kid Winter works and is recommended.
- I will add content to these depending on what feedback I get and fill them with what players might feel that they lacked during their run.
- More Grinding Hole content.
- Motel conversation variations. Sarah will in the future have more optional interactions available with the residents of the motel, about half of them are done.
- More Stand alone events tied to progression on the big, black map.
- The computer in the motel will have lore-related articles on it, just as the one in the old Hunters Tower did. There is another computer a player can reach, this one will have something else later related to a future chapter.
At the moment neither computer does anything.
- There are three additional songs coming which are not done yet. One of them is the “Drowned Heart” boss theme, one is an alternate map theme and the last one is a more complete version of the final boss theme.
- Kid Winter does not really do anything yet, he will once his “3eyed Jacks Exhibition” is done.
- The items Sarah can receive in a package will “do stuff” but does not “do stuff” yet.
- Some screen transitions are still rough.
Darkrun: Once act3 is “good enough” I will either start working on the darkrun version of Act3 or Act4. Act4 will be pretty short but packed with variations so it will take some time to make nonetheless. It is basically the act which “wraps up the story” and delivers the results of the choices made during the rest of Chapter 1.
I will also revisit a lot of the Act1 and 2 combat encounters as I have learned some new stuff which will magically fix all issues.
CHEATING ROOM:
Cheating room is pretty rough but functional, I will expand upon it in the future and sort everything better. To get access to it do the following:
1: Start a new game and choose “not to take the tutorial.”
2: Proceed as usual.
3: Once you reach the Swirling Tree, go back the way you came from but let the jumping deer pass the screen first, it creates a stupid bug otherwise.
4: MR.TV is the guy you need to talk to if you want to go directly into ACT3.
5: When choosing which level to start Act3 Winter at, know that 17 is actually pretty hard, lower levels are even harder.
When I get back to fiddling with act 1 and 2 I might increase the xp on some bosses to make sure a player who goes through the game without the cheating room ends up on an appropriate level.
6: Choose the Begin ACT3 option at the end of the string of choices if you want to be able to progress through the narrative. The other options are for fucking around and testing shit and will break progression in different ways.
