ACT3 - 2/3 parts done


Work on ACT3 is continuing. I would estimate I have about 30% more content and story to add before this can be released early for testing.  Once that is done I will begin improving the different aspects of the act, hopefully with some input from players, and begin working on the "darkrun version". 

 ACT3 will be the first time that some of the choices one might have made in act 1 and 2 creates some major differences in the story, but even if you have played as "a somewhat nice guy" there are opportunities to push the narrative in different directions. 

Further explanations can be read below, but does contain spoilers. 

SPOILERS: 

Act three is divided into two major parts: the story of adult Sarah (City story line) and the story of what happens to Billy in Sarah´s absence (Dead Tree story line). 

The act switches between these two stories as you progress, and there is naturally some overlap. 

The Dead Tree story line is a fairly straight narrative with some options for exploration and gathering advantages by being thorough.

 The City story line can have differences depending on what the player chooses for adult Sarah to do. 

At university Sarah has some choices depending on which classes to take which after a while does impact her skill sets. These choices does affect her eventual ending too. The player can either choose to focus on her learning Marine Biology and reclaiming her old Mariner skill set with some new twists or take different classes which add other things. 

Sarah also has the opportunity to do some different activities after class, choosing either to work, indulge in her tendency to start fires or explore further and socialize with some of the people she meets during the chapter. Depending on what the player chooses different advantages and consequences are earned. 

DARK PATH: If the player is on the "darkrun" path some of these choices disappear due to the influence of the character Arthur on the narrative. Having unleashed him  changes some things up a little and other things up a lot. In a "darkrun" the Dead Tree story line is replace with another one, although a lot of assets will be reused and repurposed. 

I am aiming for the kind of diverging narrative which the game Witcher 2 managed to achieve to great effect. This is also why the work on the "darkrun" stuff comes after finishing everything else for act3.
